DARC animal sanctuary is a family run concern whereby every dirham earned is spent on feeding, transporting, healing, training, and the maintenance of the animals in DARC's care. The center is managed by an Emirati family and is growing fast. It is supported by well wishers and people who have volunteered their valuable time towards helping DARC achieve its goals. In order to help even more animals DARC has embarked on obtaining bigger premises by seeking the government's help.
Having committed the past 10 years to the private research and care of animals, the center aims to provide an educational facility that will give a much needed opportunity for adults and children to learn the importance of caring and sharing their lives with animals.
Ayesha Kelaif has been rescuing animals from abuse, neglect and abandonment for the past 10 years. Her villa in Al Barsha caters to a wide variety of both small and large animals, which total to approximately 110; all of which are housed in specially built accommodation to suit their specific requirements. However, the limited space in her villa has been a hindrance to taking in more animals that need shelter. Ayesha, with the help of volunteers aims to open a suitable rescue centre within Dubai called Dubai Animal Rescue Center (DARC) as it is urgently needed with the number of increasing animals that desperately need a home.
